dinner fail.

alright so i went out to have dinner with jack, courtnie and lesley. first place we hit was jimmy joe's (i think). it's a sandwich place. i was stoked at the prospect of an excellent sannich in denton but unfortunately, this was not to be. i ordered the beach club. how could i go wrong with such a name? i was excited to hold the sandwich in my hand. what delicious surprises would this length of bread-surrounded joy reveal? not many, it seems, except for one: the lack of t-bud happiness. i could taste sprouts, lettuce, a hint of tomato and a bit of turkey loaf. the description was more exciting than what i ended up with. i guess that always happens with food.

my stomach still yearned for satisfaction so we moved on to taco cabana. i ordered the tex mex dinner. it was fairly cheap, i was expecting it to not be too big. lo and behold, it is MASSIVE. once i journey through the contents of the bag i discover that the packaging to food ratio is about 20:1 in favour of the packaging. a massive styrofoam container just for a little taco. there was some random red thing which ruled pretty hard but the rest, ack. sigh. no fork, no knife, not even a napkin. according to courtnie and lesley they only give you these things if you ask for them. the same must go for taste. OH!

i feel bad as courtnie and lesley drove me around to sample these promising eateries. sadly tonight was just not my food night. big thanks the girls for ruling hard though.

  4. Are you in Denton Tx??? weird! College towns aren't exactly famous for their cuisine seeing as most of its residents live on Ramen noodles and beer. If you want good mexican type food go to Chipotle on a budget or, if you're still in Tejas, Cantina Laredo to splurge (and be impressed.) You get what you pay for. Jimmy Johns is hit or miss, its kindathe happy medium between Subway and Quiznos. Not exactly a foodie's dream or anything.
I think an awesome sandwich can be found at Panera. Once you've seen one sub joint you've seen them all, I don't think Potbelly's is any better than Jason's Deli which isn't any better than Jimmy John's which isn't any better than Subway and so on and so forth. They're all the same. Panera is not a sub joint. I'll have a whole list of mind-blowing restaurants in DFW for you if you want it. You name the genre and I'll send you truckin ;)

  8. Ohh if Chipotle's too expensive I get nervous to recommend anything! Is Fuzzy's any cheaper? Chipotle's my fave restaurant on the planet though forever and ever amen. I've got lots of restaurants to reco. but they'll all avg upwards of $40 a person. I'd say Texas De Brazil is worth the splurge though.

  9. Chipotle is like $7.50 for a burrito the size of your head.
